4 December 2013 - Alex Beach Cabins & Tourist Park, Alexandra Headland, Queensland

A fine sunny day dawned in keeping with the location, and we crawled out of bed just before 8 am, one more alert than the other, in time to see our friends heading out the shops. Aldi had some specials on, special items appropriate for generous Christmas presents and they, our friends, were ready for the bun fight that would surely ensue when the shop doors were opened.

We were just back from the newsagent when they arrived to recount the experience and display their booty, in time to share morning coffee and some excellent cake that Tineke had insisted we depart with a couple of days ago. All was most appreciated, coffee, cake and the horror of Christmas shopping.

We met up again at 4 pm with another round of liquid refreshment and all the other bits and pieces that are ostensibly offered to soak up the effects. After many hours of laughter and tale telling, the guys wandered down to the beach and came back with fish and too many chips. The salad we had contributed was by this time considered far too healthy and amongst the surplus returned to our caravan
