At the
risk of offering Too Much Information, we passed the night in better form that
any other for a very long time. The number of times one has to get up to attend
to the call of nature is hugely effected by the heat of the night, and it was
such during last night that there was no need at all. Needless to say, one perspires
in lieu, and as I said, TMI!
This
morning after breakfast, Chris busied himself with washing the rig while I did
a load of washing. I met up with an old chap in the laundry, where I do so much
of my socialising, and remarking that it looked like being another hot day, and
that I preferred temperatures in the high twenties to these, he responded that
anything up to 40 degrees suited him very well and that I was obviously in the
wrong part of the world. I should keep my lips zipped in future! T’was a fair
comment.
We
shopped up large at the Coles supermarket where all the prices aside from the
fruit and vegetables seemed to mirror those in the larger centres then
retreated to the relative cool of the caravan for lunch. After lunch we
returned to town to pick up a few more bits and pieces and fill with diesel, including
the two new fuel cans. Our total purchase was for 135 litres and we hadn’t been
empty by a long shot. That is the record, I do believe.
As I
write this Chris is perched up on top of the landcruiser tying down a new
silver tarpaulin over the extra tyre and fuel. Hopefully it will be secure
enough to stop any additional wind resistance. And hopefully our visit to the
refrigeration man tomorrow morning on our way out will resolve any issues that
may be found with the gas fridge and we shall be able to proceed on toward Camooweal
and so across the border.
