13 March, 2011 - Two Shores Holiday Village, The Entrance, NSW

The wind has now dropped, having picked up soon after we returned to camp this afternoon. We took the awning down and stowed the outdoor furniture, and now shall probably not bother to set it up again for breakfast tomorrow morning. We were just talking about how much more we are using the awning on the caravan as opposed to that on the motorhome. To date we have not experienced the winds and bugs as we have in our travels about New Zealand over the past five years. Chris has done most of the cooking outside; this adds to the ambiance of our adventure and of course preserves the pristine condition of the caravan interior.

We have had another lovely day, enjoying the Country Music Festival in The Entrance. We set off mid-morning at a very leisurely pace and drove down the sea coast of the southern peninsula of this land form, then back up the lake side to the town. We then spent a couple of hours wandering about the weekly Lion’s Charity Markets where we purchased yet another book for our growing library (a travel guide for caravanning tours of Australia) and then listening to the various artists on a stage set up in a mall.

We escaped the crowds just after mid-day and drove down to Picnic Point (this one here in The Entrance, not Maroochydore) where we ate our lunch and watched the pelicans cruising about between flights, flights like those of the albatross where they  glide in the air currents just above the water level.

We finally tore ourselves away and returned to the street festivities, spending the greater part of the remainder of the afternoon down on the foreshore in the hot sun watching and listening a very pregnant and thoroughly awesome singer by the name of Felicity Urquart. She finished her gig with an encore and then pleading release for a toilet trip. The crowd started to disperse and we returned to the vehicle and so to our camp.

The camp is much quieter this evening with many having returned to their home for the demands of the week.
