13 January 2011: Leaving Home

Today is the last day at our address of seventeen years. Scary to be leaving the security of all that has meant over the years. We have been parked up in our motorhome next to our beautiful home of 350 square metres for the past week, slowly getting used to the idea of leaving. In the meantime Brisbane has seen the most horrendous flooding and while we have watched the anguish of loss of life and property on the small screen of our antiquated television screen every night, our thoughts have primarily and selfishly been for our Landcruiser stored in the truck yard of Cousin's Truck Sales in Rocklea on the Oxley Creek and our caravan hopefully perched up on the hill in Woombye at Caravan World. Alas Oxley Creek is periously close to the Brisbane River and today the NZ Herald reported a restaurant on the Oxley Creek as having flooded and so we are resigned to god knows what when we arrive just nine days away.

We are about to board our plane for Brisbane. This is goodbye to our old life and the beginning of the new. Larissa accompanied us up from Waihi Beach and left driving back in our vehicle. She did not stay long with us; it was sad for us all, the parting. The boys came with their families which was just wonderful. I asked a random worker to take our photos; I am only sorry that I did not think to do so before Larissa left. Time to go.
